I think his question more specifically asked about accessing the ability to love a song without having to unlock the device and go into the music app. Do it from the "lock screen". I would love this feature back as well.
~ Love Lock Screens (iPhone, iPad)
The biggest visual change that iOS 16 is introducing to iPhones is the customizable Lock Screen and Lock Screen widgets. Thanks to these widgets, apart from time, you can also show weather information, upcoming reminders, news, stocks, and more. The Lock Screen widgets are useful in showing your pertinent information, and we think users are going to love them. So, here we list all the iPhone Lock Screen widgets you will get with the iOS 16 update. We have also added the best third-party apps that are offering lock screen widgets.
The weather app with an eccentric personality, CARROT weather, is also adding Lock Screen widgets. You get a wide variety of customizable widgets that show you weather information like precipitation, temperature, AQI, and more. We love that the lock screen widget can also show eccentric quips that CARROT Weather is known for.
You can even set up multiple customized lock screens with different widgets and easily swipe to switch between them. There's also a photo shuffle option that automatically changes the pictures on your lock screen.
Customizable lock screens. Users will be able to add smaller widgets with real-time data such as the weather forecast on the lock screen, and even change the font of the clock for the first time. Some apps will be able to display customized widgets with information such as sports scores or how close your Uber is. Apple also introduced several new lock screen wallpapers with images like an interactive planet Earth. Notifications now appear at the bottom of the screen instead of at the top.
And believe me, I'm excited for this to land this autumn. Apple might finally surpass Android's lock screen, which itself has been fantastic for years now. iOS 16 will let you dive deep into customizations, from the clock's font and color to filters and widgets. You can even have multiple lock screens, which you can tie to Focus modes.
Again, iOS 16 is throwing out live wallpapers in favor of its new lock screen switcher. If you love live wallpapers on your lock screen, you may want to hold off on updating to iOS 16 until you're ready to let live wallpapers go.
In fall 2020, Apple broke the internet (and Pinterest) when they provided users the ability to update their iOS app icons and home screens in a whole new way. Fast forward 2 years later, Apple is blessing us yet again with a fully customizable lock screen.
You can set up Back Tap so that a double-tap or triple-tap on the back of your phone performs an action you might otherwise have to work at. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap to turn it on. Then pick a system action to perform for each, including muting the phone, taking a screenshot, activating Siri, locking the screen, activating various Accessibility options (like Voice Control or Zoom), and even activating shortcuts. Toward the end of 2013, Google introduced the Nexus 5, the first phone to ship with Android 4.4 KitKat right out of the box. It was a fairly substantial update over Jellybean, with one feature in particular that I loved: lock screen album art. Android could take the album art or thumbnail of whatever media was actively playing on your device and use it as a wallpaper for your lock screen. Unfortunately, Google decided to remove the feature in Android 11. But Android 12 has made customization the focus of Android again, and with dynamic theming now the star of the show, this is the perfect time to bring lock screen album art back. 2ff7e9595c
